Adwentowy Kalendarz
Zapraszam dziś do galerii Kalendarza Adwentowego.
Advent Calendar
In our tradition of Advent Calendar is not as rich as in Protestant countries, but since some time it is used in our homes as the Christmas ornament that inspire us to this unique time as the Christmas is. The first Advent calendars are dated back to the nineteenth century and were made among the monks on the walls with chalk from 1st of December to Christmas Eve. The first known Advent Calendar which was done manually derived of 1851. Other ways to highlight the Advent time is expressed by setting Advent clocks or calendar candles, which measured time to Christmas Eve, hanging pictures on the wall, one for each day or painting chalk strokes on the door. Different sources give differing information on the first printing calendars, but probably 1904 when one of the newspapers added it as a gift for their readers is the date when the custom of Advent Calendar was widely spread. In our country since some time Advent Callendar appears in the form of colorful children’s boxes of chocolates for each day from December 1st to 24th . However, my meeting with the Advent Calendar, occurred in the 90’s when I lived in Sweden a little bit. The local daily tradition there was measuring the time to the Christmas Eve by lighting the candles with the printed calendar. The custom of lighting a candle each morning when there is dark and rather gloomily outside the window was my favorite, which I brought to Poland and each year at our home from December 1st we light a candle in the evening and we watch the days are passing. I invite you today to the gallery of the Advent Calendar.
